It is illegal to drive a vehicle while using a hand-held mobile phone.
Using a hand-held mobile phone is illegal even when you are stopped at traffic lights.

Penalties:

NSW: Three demerit points and a fine
QLD: Three demerit points and a $300 fine
SA: Three demerit points and a fine
Vic: Three demerit points and a fine
WA: Three demerit points
